Well, we got WHACKED.
No power for most of Houston, home is without power, DSL is down…all in all Houston is a mess. Finding gasoline for the generator is daunting, as well as regular food stuff is a bit of challenge to get. Showed up at the office this morning…low and behold, someone has looted the [...]

Well, I had been trying my best to update this thing every couple of days or so. Trying to keep the content fresh, and catch up for a number of years of downtime for renderology. Only two problems as of late…AT&T has completely FUBAR’ed my connection so I’m without, and IKE has decided to slow [...]

Ok, ok, I know I said I’d check out the MoI trial version for a few weeks, and I did try it out. Only problem was, it kept doing things I really needed done! So I bought it! Now I can play with the beta v2, which includes even MORE cool tools, with more on [...]

Nothing ever seems easy when pulling engineering data, accurately, and with enough detail to show off the tiny nuances contained in original models without killing the rendering editor/engine. Geometry seaming, loss, and odd mapping seem to be the standard of this type of modeling and something I have to live with every day. I’ve [...]

A 3D modeling tool, not a sliver in time.
Just checking out this program at the prodding of some forum threads discussing the finer ways of getting engineering models from Rhino into an animation and rendering application of choice. MoI seemed to come up as a really great tool for native Rhino 3D models and [...]

Cinema 4D v11 is apparently getting ready for a new release, complete with a fully functional demo (save enabled, and only a few restrictions)! I just downloaded the demo, and will be testing it out over the weekend. A tonne of improvements are on [...]

A quick side note about normal mapping, especially to those who are not using them or haven’t had the pleasure yet. Normal mapping is probably the next best thing to sliced bread that you can stick in your pocket in terms of 3D modeling (not sure if sticking bread in your pocket will get you [...]

Renderology is back, but not quite the same as it use to be…
The original Renderology site was a complete website with all the 3D goodies of days gone by. Other, bigger 3D resources came along, I ran short of time to keep it going so it kinda took a little sabbatical (for like 6 years). [...]
